A Meowy Christmas | Makeup Tutorial

Tutorial | Christmas Makeup Pictorial

This look was inspired by all things Christmas, colourful, and festive! My new wig I picked up from my local Hospice op-shop felt like the 80’s and Cindy Lauper, so I created a makeup look that combined all these things together with my favourite little cat Pusheen.

The trick was blending the bright colours with the pastels of this ‘Meowy Christmas’ tee from Jay Jays! I spotted some very festive multicoloured bell earrings from Lovisa, and decided that a rainbow wreath backdrop and chromatic aberration aesthetic was the perfect combination. For the makeup look, I decided on lots of drama and festive spirit with any excuse for glitter! Check out the full pictorial below…

First, prime and moisturise, then apply foundation, and fill in brows with powder. I used two shades to blend my natural colour more with the colour of my wig. Apply a light shimmer to the inner half of the eyelids, and define brows with concealer!

Then, blend a natural darker shade of brown into the crease, and darken to your liking. Add flicks using your brow brush and black liquid liner, then add luscious lashes! I got these from Aliexpress for $2 in a pack of five.

Finally, add contour and blush in a deep raspberry shade, then using lash glue quickly apply fine pastel pink glitter to lips, and add a coat of clear gloss, then finish with little holographic glitter freckles, and in the inner corners of the eyes, along with spots of liquid highlighter on the tip of your nose, above your cheekbones and a little on your chin. Voila, all done!

Results | The Photoshoot

This photoset was created in my home, against my lounge wall! I like nothing more than a perfect simple white wall to paint your imagination onto, and with large windows and the best natural light around midday for me, I captured the fun festive spirit of this look! The chromatic aberation effect was added in post, and created in Adobe Photshop by moving the colours within the channel window 4 pixels down, left and right. I then created a mask and brushed through to the original layer over the face and detailing on the tee to suit.

Technical Info: I photographed this set with my 50mm lens, using solely available light, at 2.8 on around 500 ISO.

DIY | The Christmas Rainbow Wreath

To create this rainbow Christmas wreath, I used A2 coloured pieces of foam bought from local Warehouse Stationary, many $2 stores also sell them, and I used PVA glue and glitter to apply onto large and small circles which I cut out from two paper stencils I created from tracing around different sized cups. I use blu-tack to apply them to the wall, and completed it with a little glitter ribbon bow!

Favourite Picks | My Pusheen Merchandise Wishlist

Below are three of my top favourite items from the official Pusheen online store! This time of year they are having fantastic sales, just keep in mind that shipping to Australasia can take a little longer than you anticipate, and allow three weeks or so for delivery. The store is crammed full of timeless classics and new creations are added frequently, so stay updated with the official Pusheen Facebook and Instagram pages to see what’s new!
