My favourite show this year at New Zealand Fashion Week, was undoubtedly Maggie Marilyn’s awe-inspiring lush runway paradise at the Glasshouse in Kingsland, Auckland. Fresh colours and silhouettes with something for everyone to fall in love with!

The Runway: A lush wonderland that felt right out of a storybook, the Maggie Marilyn show was a blend of nature and colour and full of detail. Held at the Glasshouse in Kingsland, Auckland it was also a beautiful day for it with blue skies and a sunny morning, welcoming us all to this little paradise!
On display above the runway and seating were various Maggie Marilyn garments pinned to a washing line, flowers, trees, and fruit in brown paper bags lined the runway like a fancy farmers market, it was all so beautiful. See below for more detail photographs of the setup and runway for the show!…
The Collection from Maggie Marilyn NZFW 2019: Throughout her show the pieces evolved from floaty feminine drapery to crisp darker silhouettes, and this is an element of her work I love. There is something for everyone to love in with Maggie Marilyn, as she never complicates her pieces with over-embellishment or complex concepts. Her work is fresh, vibrant and light. Each piece has a clear direction making it appealing to both critics and every day fashion lovers alike. The effortless feel to her work makes it easy to style, simple dynamic colours make a statement without the need for layering many accessories. I have added a few of my favourite looks below!
My Favourites: I loved the selection of fabrics and use of natural fibres throughout Maggie Marilyn’s collection, particular favourites of mine included this vibrant blue dress below with a plunging v-neck and elegant flare sleeves. I also liked the use of frills and gathers across her collection, with this white dress above being a standout! All these pieces are super easy to take from day to night with minimal effort.
The Experience: During the show, Maggie herself spoke eloquently about the purpose behind this collection. I admire how dedicated both she and her brand are to sustainable ethical fashion, creating pieces for longevity that are also kind to the environment and the people who create them. A leader in the industry, Maggie Marilyn made an impression to remember with her knockout show of beauty, grace and effortless creativity. I am very excited to see what she brings to the next New Zealand fashion week and it was a pleasure to experience and photograph!
