Spring Makeup Highlights
Time to bloom…
Spring is one of my favourite seasons of the year. Apart from the practical aspect of the temperature being neither too hot or too cold, it’s also the time of year when my favourite flowers come to life. The trees become green again and it’s like the world comes alive! Finally, spring is also one of my creative highlights of the year, with Halloween on the 31st of October, and marking the onset of Spring for the Southern hemisphere including New Zealand and Australia. With the plethora of locations in prime condition including the start of the Cherry Blossom season, it’s a great time of year to get creative with fresh new makeup looks! Read on to see the highlights of last season and what’s in store for this one…

Spring highlights of 2018 | Highlights
Last season included many of my favourite looks so far, including a pink blossom fairy in ‘Makeup Magic’, a ‘Faux Freckles Tutorial’ which you can view here, and this shoot among the cherry blossoms for ‘Fashion: My Love Affair’. Using strong reds for the eyes was a fun trend at the time, as well as lots of pink and block colours. Last Halloween I also did a collaboration with MUA and business owner Phoenix Renata, which you can check out the details here. At the start of the week I love to do ‘Makeup Monday’ over on my instagram channel, where I get creative with makeup and show you the full look and the process from before to after!

Spring Makeup 2019 | Trends
This year we are seeing a strong return of soft and whimsical looks, lush natural features especially brushed brows, and minimal colour palettes. One of my first looks for Spring this year was this Spring Nymph, and although I wasn’t completely confident during my Twitch stream and the creation of this look, I am in love with the results! Scroll down below for the finished portrait, and check out this link to watch the full live stream video on my Twitch channel!

Makeup Monday | Spring Nymph
Whimsical makeup looks are a lot of fun to create, but can be very time consuming. I feel a simple colour palette works best for maximum effect, in this look I chose pink and yellow with highlights of white. Brows and eyes should generally echo each other, with white brushed brows and white lashes. For such a unique look keeping the lips seemingly natural worked well, I used lip pencil and finished the look with a little gloss. Faux hair flowers complete the look!
