Oh So Classic

The vintage aesthetic is one that influences not only my photography business but also my style. It's a look I keep coming back to, and for no other reason that it encompasses a timelessness that transcends the decades.

Nearly all these items are vintage or thift store finds, and I was excited that one of my favourite hair flower pieces also gets to make a reappearence! Photographed at my favourite, The Northern Club in Auckland CBD.

This dress has a personal meaning for me, it belonged to my Grandmother and just flatters you exactly where you need it! (The benefits of personal tailoring am I right!) It also helps having similar genes, so I was very excited when I fitted it almost perfectly! This dress has a tiny polka dot print on it in white, comes to ankle length, and so is really suited to me as I'm a little taller. It has a halter neck, but with thicker straps so you don't need an underwire bra underneath. (So comfy!)

This apple bag was given to me as a lovely gift from my friend Amy, and the red works together perfectly! I like to pair vintage items with more kitschy pieces. I have a rather eclectic sense of style so for me pairing the elegant with the cute is the ultimate in what I consider 'pretty'. You could however just as easily opt for a more authentic vintage feel with this look, and swap out the bag and shoes for different accessories that are more traditional.

These heels are from Nova shoes, and are honestly so versatile. There's no pointless extra detailing on them that detracts from the overall design and even though they're rather high, I feel this dress needs the height as the hem length is rather low.

For makeup and hair I went for a red lip (Of course!) with a copper eye shadow and winged eye liner. An oh so classic look done and dusted!
