Rouge

The colour red is not for the faint hearted... so this spring embrace your shade of rouge.

Red is one of my favourite colours. It represents passion, vitality, love, and so much of what inspires me every day. As a winter skin tone, I love any deep jewel shade especially a deep blood red. This dress from Glassons inspired this look, a mix of my inner romantic meets inner city girl.

Apart from the soft a-line shape of this tunic, the beautiful big flared sleeves caught my eye. I like a length that's cute but wearable and I am looking forward to mixing and matching pieces. It is easy to pair this with a pair of jeans, or thicker stockings for the cold weather that is still hanging around. Once we move into spring officially, a pair of strappy heels would suit this look nicely.

I like to mix things up a bit, and walk the line between styles. So I added a bit of gypsy romantic to the minimal design of the dress and boots. The flower headpiece, embroidered choker and large black hoop earrings all from Lovisa contrast really well. These under the knee suede boots from Hannahs also have cute little cuffs on them, and modest heels for wearability.

For this look I used a smaller barrel hair curler to get tighter ringlets and roughly brushed them out. I like the texture it creates and keeps it part of that wild romantic gypsy aesthetic. For the eyes I did a cat eye, and a soft deep pink shadow. I wanted a more natural lip this time so I applied my lip colour with my fingertips and blended it outward with lots of gloss to create a fresh more natural aesthetic. If you'd like to know a little more about my recent makeup tips and tricks, I have compiled a set of my favourite looks for you in my recent post here, 'The Essentials'. Enjoy, and step into spring wearing your favourite shade this season.
