Dotti Girl

Dotti Girl

I have been saving up various polka dot pieces for the perfect outfit, and finally this came about! I have always loved polkadot prints, particularly in black and white. I love how this look is a little more chic and effortless, and I have to add that this bun was extremely practical in the recent windy weather!

My jacket is from Jacqui-E, and is a great going out jacket to pair with all sorts of evening dresses, plus is a lovely attire for those formal business-type meetings. Cami is from Sussan but you can source similar ones from Cotton On or Kmart, and Glassons has a range of awesome camis too. Skirt is from Valleygirl and accessories from Lovisa. Apart from my jacket-flower which is actually a hair flower, and that's handmade by me and soon to be available on my Etsy shop here!

The skirt I bought from Valleygirl was a great addition to my already ever increasing polka-dot collection, and I love the shape, it's nice and relaxed and easy to match items with. However it is a synthetic fabric and collects static electricity like nothing else! So that means it's not going to be a keeper in my wardrobe, although it made for a nice one-off outfit. A-line skirts though are very flattering and easy to wear so I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for more.

Kmart has a fantastic selection of flats in a variety of colours and styles, and always super well priced. I go through my flats pretty quickly, and having narrow feet they are usually my shoe of choice apart from my favourite Deuce sneakers for comfort! (From Overland). Black and red with a little white was my colour palette this time, and it's a great go to for my skin tone. If you are pale with deep coloured eyes, this colour scheme will generally work for you too. Just make sure to go for a cool red as opposed to a warm one.

For my hair and makeup I decided to attempt a hair-bun this time, as I wanted to show off my collar. I love fabric collars! They are the best accessory, and Etsy.com has heaps and heaps for order online. I also wanted to utilise my polka-dot scrunchie and this worked perfectly! I used a hair-mesh bun from Kmart to create this bun and keep it looking shapely.

Jacqui-E has the best selection of thin coloured and plain belts. Not those tacky ones you see everywhere with all sorts of add-ons but just plain, classic belts. Their belts also come in different sizes so you can achieve the perfect fit. Great with dresses, skirts or pants. This black one I actually wear quite a bit! I also have Red, Pink, and Purple belts that match.

Initially I was considering putting my hair flower in my bun, but with so many polka-dots I wanted to keep the look clean and simple. I've added a brooch clasp to it and voila! It has become a jacket-flower. Handy. I feel that this sort of adornment would look exquisite on a ball-gown or cocktail dress too as an accessory. So I will likely make more exactly for this sort of thing.

I went for stronger colours in my eye shadow today, with copper and browns, and I quite like the intensity. If you have blue eyes putting copper or warm tones in the eye shadow will make them pop, and I am learning bit by bit how to achieve a better result with my makeup and hair. Look out for a separate post on some of my favourite recent products I have been collecting. I use an anti-frizz fix spray from Loreal, to manipulate my hair into staying put, and my favourite lashes so far are these Katy Perry ones. Very natural yet elegant.

All in all I was really happy with how this outfit came out, initially I had a little trouble getting my bun to co-operate but after a few attempts and turning my head upside down to get the pony right, popping the mesh bun on top worked beautifully. I'm definately going to make sure I pop one of my creations in every outfit I share from now on ♥
