PIA Boutique | Business Showcase

Since opening online in 2012, Pia Boutique has been one my favourite designers to follow. Created by designer Pia Naera, with a background in graphic and fashion design it shows through her bold, vibrant and colourful pieces.

Made for the New Zealand girl, her garments are created for our New Zealand weather and will take you through seasons seamlessly. Her new S/S ’18 collection features beautiful navy fabrics, deep magenta shades and as always loads of sequins and sparkle! This business showcase I take you through three of my favourite pieces from her most recent collections, that will take you from day to night, and through this holiday season with ease.

First Look | The Pia Dress in Marble Blues

I love that Pia Boutique celebrates everything feminine, and the way movement plays such an important part in all her pieces. The perfect party choice, this classic dress is a take on one of her notable designs that goes back to the label's beginnings. You'll standout without being left out, with layers of frills, and bright sequins that have always been a key part of the Pia aesthetic. This piece is also great for you if like me, your legs are one of your best features. It adds a little bit of flare to your hips but still offers a subtle shape, a timeless design that Pia includes in many of her collections. Whatever your shape or size though, this design is just an absolute classic, and a must have piece in your wardrobe. Versatile, practical and perfect for day or night, this dress will transcend from one occasion to the next.

The attention to detail that Pia pays to her designs is noticeable throughout each piece. In the Pia dress the frills come to the perfect length when this dress is worn, giving it a little flare at the bottom but not so much that it feels overdone. The marble pattern is the perfect balance of colour and style, without competing with the bold sequin front.

The back is in fact, a clever design with the same slightly see through marble print, and as a chiffon fabric also makes it rather breathable and provides some natural air conditioning as well as being great sun protection combined with sleeves in addition. The wide arms make it easy to move in, perfect to dance in and all-day wearable. I really like the length of the sleeves too, I don't often choose wider garments as it's a known rule amongst other hour glass girls to always define your waist - this piece though is the exception as it drapes with flare.

I feel that this dress is best paired with crisp white accessories, I did so with my heels which are from Hannahs. Strappy heels or flats are best with this design, anything to highlight your legs. If you have delicate legs opt for a more delicate strap, otherwise if you are blessed with thicker calves go for a chunkier strap that ends lower up your calf. Other styling options include working in a colour contrast, by pairing your accessories in a bold colour such as a deep magenta or butter yellow.

Second Outfit | Danica Top in White, and the Missy Skirt in Daylight Star

A girl can never have too much white in her wardrobe. Although we Kiwis have a love affair with black I believe there are alternatives, navy being one of them and an on trend favourite for this season along with a beautiful white. This shade is best on you if you have pale skin, and a pink or neutral undertone rather than an olive complexion. This skirt and top pairing is a beautiful match, and being so elegantly minimal the top calls for all sorts of creative accessory options too. I kept this look simple, and paired it with my favourite Veronica B choker and heels from Hannahs.

I can imagine this outfit the perfect daywear look, out and about for lunch, shopping and time with friends. It's pretty no fuss, and the gorgeous delicate starry print on the Missy Skirt makes the perfect accent. Both pieces are made from a chiffon fabric, the top is slightly heavier than the skirt but both wear well, and aren't clingy. A little warmer than the previous look, this one is probably best for cooler days and in between seasons.

For this outfit I opted for hair that is a little more relaxed. I pinned the sides back and and parted it in the middle, I find this frames my face well and if you have a soft face like me this is a style that should work for you too.

Third Look | Malaia Dress in Navy

This look is definitely a beautiful evening look, or that special occasion piece. It's a dress that works for you if you have a larger bust, and are either hourglass or pear shaped. It's also a bonus if you have great legs to go with it, as there is a slit on the side that gives it a little bit "je ne sais quoi"...

I love the way this maxi dress calls for a stunning necklace and accessories. I am wearing a piece from Veronica B, and again with my heels from Hannahs. I wanted to show you how you can integrate these three pieces so seamlessly into your current wardrobe, especially if you already have a similar body type and features.

The length is nice, and comes to just below your mid calf, there are two layers with the lining and the sequin pattern overlay. The texture of the sequin pattern is really eye catching and unique, and despite the very low cut top it's rawther classy.

There's two drawstrings under the bust, so you can tighten them accordingly. It's also a nice detail that adds to the motion of the dress when you move in it, the fabric catches the light the sequins shimmer beautifully. The only downside for this piece is how exposed your arms feel, and often when shopping I find this a deal breaker. The bodice design softens this aspect, but it would be so lovely to see this piece available with a little capelet, just to add a little bit of magic.

Overall I love this dress, and this shade of navy is just so frequent in my wardrobe at the moment! Navy makes the perfect alternative to black, and that's part of the reason I picked the three pieces I did. So depending on where you are headed these holidays, and whatever the occasion calls for, these three pieces are bound to have you covered, so you can dance the day and night away!
